There was a guy at a club around here who would bring his 12 year old kid that actually had a train much like you describe. The engine was a Proto USRA 0-8-0, really nice for a kid that age. It pulled a passenger train composed of random Athearn heavyweight and streamlined cars, with some Bachmann 1860 open platform wood cars mixed in, some in circus colors, and had some cheap wide cupola caboose on the end. All going around the club at 80 or 90 MPH.
I changed my thinking though when I realized the youngster was seriously “challenged.” Nevertheless, is the club the right place for therapy like that? Tough question.
