Here’s a link to a four-minute YouTube video of Missouri Pacific Steam Operation Arkansas in the early 1950s. The area roughly described by a triangle between Little Rock, Alexandria and Texarkana was under steam until early 1955.
This video was posted to YouTube in 2011, but is certainly worth posting to this BB.
I must have already looked at it 10,000 times. An everlasting thanks to whoever shot it. If there is any more MP steam footage it would be a miracle, as would MP steam sound recordings.
After looking at the film and seeing two of the 1400 and 1500 mikes as oil burners, I wonder how many were oil fired?
There is a little bit of steam footage on the MPHS 5 DVD set, and I have seen a few other films, but it is a rare treat to see it.

Who has the capability to capture this video from youtube and have it posted here? Youtube can be like Yahoo groups…. here today, gone tomorrow. It would be a shame for this to be lost, and in this particular video, I doubt that there would be any copyright issues, otherwise it would have been pulled from Youtube already.

Sorry to bump this thread, but the video in the link has been taken down. Fortunately, the film the video was derived from is still available to view on Youtube (as of posting).

I’ve downloaded this video, so in the event that it’s also taken down, it can be reuploaded and enjoyed.
