Was sorting through some boxes in the basement and came across an undecorated Intermountain 40′ boxcar with 5/5 ends I’d bought for some project I’d forgotten about. Since I’m modeling the layout on a part-time basis I’d like to build this car as a DeSoto repaint in the late 1960’s but the only photo I can find of a MP car with this type of end is this one with a geep planted in front of the boxcar. I can tell the roof walk was been removed and the ladders shortened but would like to find a better photos of this series. Any photos is appreciated.
I did dig out the Winter 1985 Eagle that has an article written by Dave Sapp on freight car lettering. There are three photos of 40′ boxcars with 5/5 ends. One group MP 32575 and I-GN 18899 there was also a StLB&M 17600. Cross checking these number against the 1961 renumbering shows these series. MP 32500-34287 became MP 123606-124517. I-GN 18800-18999 became MP 125119-125307 and StLB&M 17501-17600 was renumbered MP 123445-123534. So these are the series I’d like to uncover a photo for.

Assume that would be a ‘modified’ AAR 1937 boxcar. Found a few series on the list by Ed Hawkins here:

StLB&M 18250-18449Other cars that used that 5/5 end were the War Emergency boxcars which were to all intents and purposes a composite side version of the Modified 1937 AAR car but I do not think the MP or subsidiaries owned any.
