I have an old, N-scale Kadee/Micro-Trains yellow Texas & Pacific Boxcar and I assume that Kadee also offered one in HO-scale.

Does anyone know if the T&P actually had one or more of these yellow cars and if so were they intended for special or general service.

This particular car is numbered T&P 41153 and appears to me to be a model of a 10′-6″ Modified 1937 AAR boxcar or ???

    Diane,

I’m not aware of any yellow T&P box cars in this series. From what information I’ve found the 41000-41199 series were build in 1951 by the Press Steel Car Co. They had diagonal panel roof, early improved dreadnought ends (R+3/4 pattern), riveted sides and closely resembles the DeSoto built cars for the Mopac.

Neither MP or T&P had yellow Boxcars in freight or passenger service.

Actually there were two (2) 40′ insulated boxcars with plug doors painted in Swamp Holly Orange. These had the straight side sill and late improved dreadnaught ends and diagonal panel roofs. They were rebuilt from an earlier series built at Marshall. This is probably where the yellow boxcar idea came from and I only wish I could find photos of these rare cars.
