    here are some pics of the layers of paint they scrapped to check colors while preparing for the big renovation of the depot.

    Great photos for reference. The earliest documentation is from 1910 when MP depots were painted “bright yellow” with bronze green trim. Doug Brush uncovered these when he restored Downs, Kansas. The next colors came along in 1926 and were Colonial yellow with brown trim. The Kirkwood depot’s interior was modernized in 1941 and there’s an article in one of the MPL magazines from that year. Will be interesting what colors the Kirkwood historians choose.
