Last Friday we were driving back to Omaha from St. Louis and a wreck on I-70 had traffic at a stop. Got out the Missouri highway map and found a route through rural Missouri that took us to 63 where we could head north to Omaha. Found this wide vision caboose in Wellsville by the Wabash depot – nowhere near the Mopac tracks. Bob Schultz was Mopac’s Vice President Administration and I think any town that asked for a caboose got one from him no matter what RR it was on. I was working one day and someone had the mayor of Bunceton, Missouri call me saying he’d been promised a caboose a couple years earlier and never got one. I called Bob and Bunceton got one of the last retired ones we had.
At least the MP ran through there with the branch being abandoned in 1936… Certainly not the case with 13566. The decal on the west side of the caboose hasn’t weathered too bad considering the age of the caboose.

Thanks for posting this, Charlie. It’s good to see that some of the sisters to my caboose still survive.
