This is the cast iron station sign used by the MP to notify train crews the station was a mile away. This example was used on the White River Division. Dimensions are 30″ wide and 18 1/2″ high. Casting is 47 pounds. Drawing is dated February 1928.

Similar casting was made with a ‘W’ in the oval to denote a water tank or water column was a mile away. Have not seen one other than in a drawing in the standards book. Am sure these would have been scrapped in the mid1950’s with the retirement of the steam locomotive fleet.
