    From Gary Roe:
I am sorry to report that Gene died on Tuesday, 29 Mar. He has been my friend for 50 years. We were brought together via our hobby of model railroading, bolstered by our time working for the real thing. In Gene’s case, it was the Missouri Pacific. He was extremely knowledgeable about their equipment; and was coauthor of the Signature Press book on The American Refrigerator Transit. He was also a good modeler; and had a nearly complete model railroad based on the Missouri-Illinois, an MP subsidiary.

If you look at the early Eagles you’ll see Gene as a contributor, editor and secretary. The historical society fell silent for a few years as we could not get an editor to publish the magazines and membership fell to an all time low where it finally just stopped. Gene got the group going again and we have to thank him for getting the historical society back up and running.

We owe Gene a significant debt of gratitude. He was extremely instrumental in reviving the MPHS back in the ’80s and served in various positions of leadership through out his lifetime. He was very active in the model railroad community, also. He will be missed. His obituary can be found on our website –http://www.mopac.org/the-mopac-legacy/in-memoriam/276-obituary-for-gene-l-semon-draftsman-2022-3-29.
