I was looking through the Winter 1981 issue of “The Eagle” and came across an announcement for a 1978-82 review similar to the “1975-76 Missouri Pacific Annual” by John Eagan. Was this ever Review ever published? Who was working on it? Here is the write up for it:

    Winter 1981 “The Eagle”
The Missouri Pacific Review 1978-1982 is still on target for a mid-1982 release. Features on the GP50, unit trains, St. Louis, Alton & Southern, cabooses as well as complete motive power updates will be included. A special offer will be made to MPHS members, announcements to follow in a later EAGLE as to availability and ordering information. (Those in the know will be happy to hear that litigation involving the annual series has now been settled. The manuscript of the still-born Missouri Pacific Annual 1976-1977 has been released and returned, if enough interest is made, it will be printed and offered for sale. Topics included are: GP18, American Freedom Train on the MoPac, Loco 610, The Bicentennial GP18/ GP7 duo, snowplows and complete motive power updates. Contact the current news editor direct for details, please include a SSAE for speedy reply. Thank you!

Also saw something mentioning “Settlement of the suit also yielded a few copies
of the Missouri Pacific Annual 1975-1976.” Does anyone know anything about the lawsuit over the annual?

    Thanks!

John Eagan was working on it but was not published. Since he wrote it (as you know) we’ve had Kevin EuDaly’s diesel book come out, a number of Morning Sun Mopac diesel color books by Greg Stout and Jim Boyd all with rosters. Reading your posting I’m only guessing the demand wasn’t there to have it printed and with the previous books being printed now it may have less of an audience today than in 1981.

I know nothing about the law suit mentioned. John was at the joint MP-C&EI meet selling a large photo collection.
