In 1951, when I was 14 years old, my Dad bought a small farm on the outskirts of Cabot, Arkansas. The MoPac was under steam on the Little Rock to St. Louis line from then till early 1955. I lived down by the tracks as much as possible during that time. I graduated from high school in 1955, the year that steam died.
Like others have expressed, I only wish I had owned a camera during those few short years. What photos I could have taken. I moved away from Arkansas shortly after graduation, so my MoPac memories are all about steam. I hardly noticed the few diesels I saw.
