Thinking the Missouri Pacific Historical Society should offer a restencilling decal set for the air slides built in 1958. Original numbers were MP 100-199 (720000-720099) and 225-299 (720100-720174) and the LOAX 11000-11024 This would give the modern Mopac modelers another railcar to have in their roster.
The set would include the black ART shield, Wabash flag, buzz saw, for sugar loading only, the new MP reporting marks and numbers plus load limit, light weight and weighing location and date. The set would also include ‘for flour loading only’ as in the second photo. Modeler would remove the factory lettering using Solvaset on the model and add the new decals as appropriate to the 1970’s car.
If anyone can help add photos to this topic please do.

We need a genuine ART font. There are several good reefer stenciling drawings in the book also, that clearly show the details of this distinctive font.
I’ve found that the lettering comes off well enough with a gentle scraping. Haven’t tried Solvaset. Although I haven’t tried one of the ART cars yet, I did a Wm. Kelly Milling (Hutchinson) with a Dan Kohlberg set, just only replacing the lettering I needed. Started with an Athearn GACX un-assigned (no lettering beyond the minimum) car. I’ll be doing a couple other Kansas-appropriate ones as I have time.

Here’s a YouTube demo on using Solvaset to remove lettering. I used this method to backdate an Athearn GP38-2 to the small numbers and buzz saw on the cab. It removed the large numbers on the hood, the Eagle logo on the cab and the stripes on the front and rear. The only stripes I couldn’t get off were on the sides but I just painted over them and applied 3″ striping.
