    When the Mercantile Library was still in downtown St. Louis over 15 years ago, I was going thru the photographs of the St. Louis Globe Democrat, and there was a photograph of a St. Louis , Iron Mountain & Southern flatcar with what you might call bridge supports bolted or welded to it. There were two levels of pickup trucks, if I remember correctly. I want to say the license plates had 1927 on them but not sure. I never got to do further research, to see if I could find the newspaper article.
    This would make a good article for the magazine about an early experiment.
