Unfortunately, fake items from questionable sources have appeared from time to time – collectors should become familiar with their areas of interest and view unusual or unknown designs with healthy skepticism. The following two caps were offered on an on-line auction site at various times in the past, and both are unquestionably recent vintage “fantasy” items.

Here’s a recent Ebay auction with an antique Mopac conductor badge on the wrong cap. MP conductor caps had two gold brads on the top and bottom of the band. This one also has a hole in the center of the crown for a completely different type of badge.

A real MPL conductor is shown here as a comparison.
