Shortly after purchase of the GP-7 Phase II (Life-Like P2K model) the Missouri Pacific began adding radios to the locomotives and cabooses. In the early 1950’s the radio and their equipment was too large to fit in the nose or cab so the Mopac added a specially MP designed cabinet behind the fireman’s side to hold the equipment. This one piece resin part was designed directly off MP drawings and fits the HO GP-7 perfectly. All the modeler needs to do is add a conduit from the cabinet to the antenna.

Numerous prototype photos shot many of these cabinets in place until retirement of these early GP-7’s. Be sure and reference photos as later GP-7 and GP-9 did not receive this cabinet as the radios got smaller over the years.
