I happened by chance on a live steam magazine on eBay, so I picked it up. Modeltec magazine, February 1988. The item of interest is an article about Wilbur ‘Corn Cob’ Kloppenberg and his MP 5508 Atlantic in 1.6″ scale. Mr. Kloppenberg (Kloppenburg?) was a member of the St. Louis Live Steamers.

Google says that Modeltec magazine was published from 1984 to 2002. It covered all kinds of live steam stuff and the machining and building of it.

St. Louis Live Steamers is in Kircher Park in Eureka, MO. I did not turn up any information on their site about this engine.

Back in the late 1970’s I’d received a request from a dentist in Memphis for the erection drawings for a Mopac 6600 Pacific. The dentist would meet his grandfather at the Memphis bridge and ride in the cab to the Memphis passenger station. I went dow to the Mechanical department and Ray Curl pulled the drawings and we sent him a copy. A year later I was working in Memphis and contacted the dentist and he’d completed a live steam locomotive. It was 100% scaled down 6600. No odd domes or out of scale fittings. Wonder what happen to it?
