Several members of the Missouri Pacific Historical Society are working with Hubert Mask on a new decal set for the 709900 series. This model can be kit bashed from the atlas three bay model. Decals will include the as delivered LOCX, KOG lettering and the restenciling into TP or MP reporting marks

    Charlie,

Can you post the photo of the LOCX car with the ART herald on here…then we can ask if anyone on the forum has any information on the size of the ART herald? Someone might have a diagram with measurements or a better ‘straight on’ shot of the car side.

Here’s the photo from Nate Obermeyer; unfortunately the ART shield is somewhat hidden by the residue on the side of the car.

Information from Nate on these cars as follows:

“All of the 3-bay ACF built 3510 cuft cars started as LOCX cars 709900-709999 – 100 cars total. The LOCX reporting marks were used from 1965 to 1973 when it was changed to LOC. This group was unique in have an ART shield and American Refrigerator Transit stenciled on the sides. Starting in 1973 some were changed to TP reporting marks and in 1977 they were changed to MP. The 1979 Mopac equipment roster lists 60 cars as LOC and 35 cars as MP. So all that needs to be done is drop the X for any car after 1973 and it would be accurate or do a full paint up to TP or MP. However I have not seen a photo of one of these cars with TP reporting marks”.
