I’ve only ever seen a blurry photo of a 4-4-0 lettered for GCL. Are there any more? What about the New Iberia and Northern?
Pat
I just posted a photo of a GCL automobile boxcar under the StLB&M model post. I have a few builders photos of GCL locomotives I can post later I just need to dig out my scanner.
It was 1925 when the MP got control of the GCL, right? How long do you think some GCL cars might have lasted before repainting? WW II? I really want some GCL cars one way or another. NOT&M too.

You’d have to think it took a few years to repaint the GCL and I-GN equipment into Mopac’s paint standard. But they had more shops and rip tracks back then, too. I wouldn’t think they lasted past 1930 but that’s just a guess on my part.
Pat,
I’ve seen a few photos the 2-8-0’s owned by St. L, B &M lettered Gulf Coast Lines on the tender. The lettering was a sans serif font, and by my guess was either white or yellow.

Here’s what few Gulf Coast Lines and StLB&M pre-Mopac photos I have of their locomotives.
Thanks Charlie. The numbering on the GCL engines is a different font than the lettering on the tender. Plus the underlining of the lettering, all makes it unique. Wish we knew what color it was.
I know it’ll drive you RPM guys nuts but I’m thinking about making some fantasy decals for GCL. And the New Iberia and Northern too. Why not. They are my favorite roads and we know almost nothing about them.

Blowing up the photo of No. 82 my money is on the lettering being white. The lettering matches the white tire color on the builder’s photo.
