Sam hired out for the MoP in 1968 just before vietnam. Sam passed away while on the clock for the MoP in a horrible train wreck on october 3 1982 just before the official MoP-UP merger. Wreck location was Possum Grape, Arkansas (glaise junction to be exact). Sam is my uncle though i never had the chance to meet him (being born not until 1987). I wish he was here to talk railroad with me and is one reason i love the MoP so much. Here are a couple photos i have of him. He loved having his picture taken
