A few months ago I bought a silverplate tray, marked Missouri Pacific Ry. in a script lettering style, made by Reed & Barton. It’s about 13″ long by 6″ wide and has a beaded edge, and it’s got some corroded spots on the upper surface and a fair bit of wear on the bottom.
The interesting thing about this piece is that it’s marked on the bottom ‘Le Chateau’ engraved freehand, like perhaps a vibro-etch tool.
Any idea where and when ‘Le Chateau’ existed? I have to assume it’s (was) a fancy-pants French restaurant.
