The Sunshine Special steam plate with Missouri flowers at the top is considered the first of this version of the Sunshine Special plate (there is also a similar plate with Texas flowers at the top, a separate thread.) The first orders carried date codes of December 1928 and January 1929, and also included a full backstamp, with information that the plates were supplied through W. Ford Co. in St. Louis. Later plates carried only the O.P. Co. Syracuse backstamp, often with no date code. The last date that these plates were ordered is uncertain, but likely the mid-1940s. They were replaced by the Eagle diesel plates starting in August 1949.
