At least it’s preserved and getting a coat of paint.
anonymousMemberI used to work as a staff architect for a historic district in a large city. We had applicants like this so called historical society. We had to do a fair amount of “education,” “correction,” and sometimes some “attitude adjustment.” 😮 😆
anonymousMemberCan you see this baby hustling the Coast Daylight at 80 MPH? 😮 😆
anonymousMemberWashington where?

anonymousMemberDown here in Louisiana the NOT&M, whose practice I’m largely following, used pea gravel quite a bit in the ‘40’s according to the profiles. I used an equal mix of Woodland Scenics light buff and darker tan and it looks pretty good.

anonymousMemberI liked the lighted switchstand lanterns and the illuminated engine number boards and class lights. I recognized whistle 23 of the tsunami2-2 decoder, appropriate 5 chime choice for MP freight power.
anonymousMemberI don’t know if it’s relevant but I saw Jenks blue E units in New Orleans in 1964. It was from a distance so I don’t know specifically which units exactly.
At the time I also saw E’s from KCS, L&N, SR and maybe IC. The family stayed a couple of days at a hotel right near the approach to NOUPT, what a deal for a 16 yr old railfan. Why no camera and no attempt to get trackside or take notes, aggghhh. Those were the days my friend. We thought they’d never end.
anonymousMemberSo, the Eagle has “landed.”
😆 😆 😆
anonymousMemberFrom looking at photos, they started either Brown or Red from the shop. New Colors changes over the years.
Within a year, they faded to tan or pink (Blush or Bashful?) or some other color with gulf coast salt or west Texas sun.
Add dirt and no two cars were the same color.anonymousMemberReally nice looking cars but not getting them for two reasons- the stiff price, and the fragility of the detail. I’m moving into a much more mobile lifestyle in retirement, probably going to sell the house soon and tear down the layout, and confine my models to items that can be frequently handled in A line carriers and transported without damage, like Accurail cars. I think these Rapido cars, as beautiful as they are, will likely be as fragile as Kadee tank cars, which something will snap off of if a gnat sneezes within 5’.
anonymousMemberIs this the $50 boxcar with a 2 car minimum? You were able to make the two cars two different road names?
anonymousMemberThat’s excellent information. Thanks!
anonymousMemberI am willing to go to trainfest next year to help as worker bee.
anonymousMemberThey fixed the buzzsaw from this:

Yes there are multiple nits. But. Looks good enough for me. I’m happy.
