I have been visiting since mid-November, and I get access almost every day. Linked photos don’t seem to be available, but this post suggests I can reply. I missed the forum when I couldn’t get in.

    Obviously :D

I don’t suppose he left any documentation explaining the choice.

considering the situation in MO during the Civil War, the combination is appropriate, but I don’t suppose he was cognizant of that.

I think there is a misunderstanding.

I am not asking about choosing paint for a model.

I am asking who chose the blue and gray for the prototype and why. Why that color combination?

    Thank you, Bill!

But I think my question is misunderstood: I am not asking about selecting modern paints for models. I am asking who selected the colors when MoPac dieselized and why, if such information is available.

If memory serves, those engines were assigned by the USRA to the PRR, but the self-proclaimed “Standard” didn’t want standardized engines not born in Juniata. I don’t know if the PRR actually used them much or not (I can’t get to my copy of MoPac Power right now), but MoPac benefited from PRR haughtiness.

The use of the compartments sorta mimics European practice.

Have you tried bridgehunter.com? I am pretty sure the site is still up though the owner was killed late last year.

    https://www.mfaoil.com/

MFA originated as a farmer’s co-op. There actually two divisions, if you will, nowadays, at least locally: the co-op and the oil company. Separate but connected.

If you look at the enlargement of the photo on the eBay page, it clearly shows 36, so you are right.

The RoW for the line ran right on the edge of a piece of property my family lived on back in the early ’80s. It was under a road for part of the way and in a fence row for another part. I looked for but never found any spikes, tie plates, etc.
