Raymond Lowery who designed the first Eagle passenger train chose the colors and management obviously approved the choice.

I know some of the FGEX and WGEX reefers still had queen posts and rods into the early 1950’s. 5C842F62-505B-46C8-9BD4-D846580B8A45.jpeg[/attachment:2zyaji9n]9C121707-7AFA-4BE5-B2A8-785D459171A4.jpeg

I’ve been working on a book with Bill Pollard and a few articles. Plus some nonMP related boxcars. I recall the interior of the freight room at Beloit, Kansas was the same as the 1926 exterior colors Colonial yellow and brown. Steve McVey once told me one of the depots of the White River interior was painted the same yellow inside. Years ago I was working in the General Office and someone from Newport, Arkansas called me asking about the interior colors as they were restoring the station. I didn’t know but told them they could carefully sand through the layers of paint of the walls and determine from that what color(s) were used. I asked them to call me back with the results of their finding but they never did.

John Eagan was working on it but was not published. Since he wrote it (as you know) we’ve had Kevin EuDaly’s diesel book come out, a number of Morning Sun Mopac diesel color books by Greg Stout and Jim Boyd all with rosters. Reading your posting I’m only guessing the demand wasn’t there to have it printed and with the previous books being printed now it may have less of an audience today than in 1981.

I know nothing about the law suit mentioned. John was at the joint MP-C&EI meet selling a large photo collection.

As you continue to put together your rosters just some notes on Mopac subsidiaries. There was never a Missouri & Illinois owned by the MP although most people pronounce it like that and I’ve seen it written that way in many captions etc. The railroad was the Missouri-Illinois RR. You also asked about the Gulf Coast Lines. This was an overall name for several roads; the equipment was either NOT&M or StLB&M owned and stenciled as such. Gulf Coast Lines would be seen spelled out on a pre-1924 lettered freight car but the actual reporting marks would be the two I noted. Good luck with your research.

If you look at the early Eagles you’ll see Gene as a contributor, editor and secretary. The historical society fell silent for a few years as we could not get an editor to publish the magazines and membership fell to an all time low where it finally just stopped. Gene got the group going again and we have to thank him for getting the historical society back up and running.

When Joe Collias helped PFM with this model he’d sent reference photos so they got the tender details right. He’d told them not to add the doghouse.
But it obviously got lost in the translation between PFM and the Korean builder. As you mentioned these were only on the 6600’s and not the 1158 group. If you have a way to remove it it would be more accurate for the locomotive.

I didn’t use it full strength but added a little water. I also only used it on wood and used a stiff brush so get it as thin as possible.

Outside of the Texas Eagle and the other named passenger trains (Unfortunately) we’re have a tough time getting much on the T&P but hopefully we’ll uncover more information as we dive into the employee magazine ‘T&P Topics’.
