Description
MPHS MP 1150 Series Caboose – 3D Printed Kit
In November 1939 the Missouri Pacific shops in Sedalia built the first five all steel LCL cabooses (1150-1154) The next group of four (1155-1158) followed in December 1940. These were used initially on branchlines as they had both a baggage and coach section in addition to a conductors desk. Two coal stoves were provided; one for the passenger area and the second for the train crew. These caboose were in local service from 1939 to the 1980’s with the last decade being used on traveling switch engines and in yard transfer service.
MPHS member, Mike Huddleston has designed and produced a HO kit of these unique MP prototypes using a 3D printing process. Several Mask Island caboose decal sets are in the Company Store.
Due to the nature of the 3D material many of the smaller pieces and thin flanges are easy to break during assembly so be especially careful in handling the smaller parts.
