    Another question:

Any interest in the Bethlehem 3209 cu ft quad hopper? MP had several thousand of these hoppers as well as the 3737 and 3716 quads…would look great inter-mingled on a cut of hoppers…since the 3209 is a foot or more shorter on overall top cord height.

    Thoughts?

Would this be a completely new model on the market or does someone offer it but not in Mopac?

    Charlie:

Completely new product. The MP/MI cars were (or appear to be) identical to the CB&Q cars…of the same cu ft. rating…made around the same time frame.

Walthers’ version was released several years ago in a six pack…but this model would be with state-of-the-art tooling…

The MP cars had either full length top cord reinforcing angles…or the partial ones…like the CB&Q had. So, the Walthers car was pretty close for its’ time. They even got the number series right.

This car would be all new from the wheels up…and HIGH quality.

I could probably get only one or two. 3209 is a neat model.

I’m in for a few. I know of others that are interested in hoppers, as well. Do we have any kind of commitment from any of the manufacturers?

Possibly. It’s almost identical to the CB&Q cars…so there’s hope. I would be in for 20-30 of them, personally…as they would compliment the C&EI, T&P, and MP 3737/3716 hoppers in unit trains…with their shorter overall height.

MP had a ton of them, too.

I’d go for a few. Of course, I’d like the as-built 67000s. If they were made with this lettering scheme, they could be renumbered like the prototype did. Frankly, not that much difference in the lettering between the original and the 580000 series, but there are definite diffferences if you know where to look.

They share common parts with the larger capacity 3483 hoppers…and basically look like shorter versions…as I have stated…we’ll see what happens.
