image.jpeg[/attachment:1vxntg5s]image.jpeg[/attachment:1vxntg5s]The MPHS just got in two metal signs we’ve been working on these are available only from the Missouri Pacific Historical Society. The first is reproduced from a 1943 Mopac ticket envelope advertising the three streamliner trains in service. Great period art deco graphics. The second design with the hound dog was originally used on bill boards, on the back of Mopac public timetables and on their famous pocket calendars. This design won the Missouri Pacific an advertising award for 1956.
These are new signs and come wrapped in protective plastic with four small mounting holes. Size of each sign is 6″ x 10″.
Here’s the ebay listing.

I was listening to the radio a few months ago and the discussion was around ‘tips for successful selling on eBay’. One suggestion was instead of selling the two signs for $24 – end the price in .97. What this does is make people stop and remember the item due to the odd pricing.

I was going to list the signs separately but figured most buyers would want two anyway for their man cave or layout room so that’s why they are sold together plus it saves them on priority postage.

These were our first two tin signs. We have several more designs in the works but I wanted to see the quality and how the colors came out before I ordered several different ones.

Why not offer a big plain metal red buzz saw like used to be on depots?

How big are you talking? We are limited on the size of these tin templates. I am planning on doing some of the railroads the MP picked up – I just need to see what kind of market there is for these.

Well of course I would like a depot sized one, but I’d be very happy with one that is practical to handle and ship. Some of the train memorabilia catalogs sell 12″ ones of the usual PRR, NYC, Santa Fe, etc. but whatever works best is fine.
