Hello need help in finding out what components were used on the MP dome cars, I have no layout drawing to use.
In looking at photo’s and what plans I have. I know where the battery box goes, and the generator. Anything else is a crap shoot.
The car data listing list all items that go on the car and that’s it. One thing that is a puzzle is the water tank spec’s, It says 200 gallons, this
seems odd as it is 81 passengers and a strip from Stl to Texas takes 19 + hours. Seems it should have more compacity.
Any help will be appreciated.
this is my current project. MP IGN #896 Dome will have resin interiors and LED lighting.

On the 200 gallon water tank, for a coach that sounds about right. The entire train would have been watered en route. Most passenger cars were always watered at Little Rock and probably again at least once more in Texas.

Bill thanks for your reply. I found a plan in and old T&P passenger car diagram book that shows the
the water tank to be 3 16″ diam x 84″ long each. I also found a photo and you can see 3 tanks
running down the center of the car, in the recessed lounge area. Another thing there is something
On the rear end mounted to the floor looks like 2 generators at 90 deg from center line.
they are on the Hallmark T&P dome car under body . Several other boxes as well. Can’t tell which one is the AC unit.
And the mystery continues. Can some one name the equipment shown in the photo’s?
