    Hi,

I am seeking any information on the Missouri-Illinois RR passenger equipment from the 1940’s to the early 50’s. I can find bits and pieces for the MR&BT from earlier years (it’s MO-side predecessor), but nothing more than a single image of a true M&I gas-electric with a baggage car.

This one is purported to be M&I, but it has MoPac lettering, so not sure.

Does anyone know if there were coaches and any idea as to body and lettering paint colors? Copies of relevant page(s) from the Official Railway Equipment Register or photographs of equipment would be much appreciated.

    Thanks….gregg

To my knowledge for the 1940-50 timeframe the gas-electric and trailer was the M-I’s sole passenger equipment. I’ve seen other shots of MPL lettered gas-electrics on the M-I of the same class as in the photos.

Carbodies were green (some state Pullman green but I’ve not seen a paint chip) with black roofs with Delux gold lettering. There’s a color shot in Joe Collias Mopac color book of one of the MPL 650 cars. One of trailers seen in the photos survived as a storage unit at least into the 1970’s being used by the local street department in Ste. Genevieve but was later sadly scrapped.
