In 1963-64 the Missouri Pacific and the Santa Fe had discussions concerning a potential merger. The attached photos show what was some sort of proposed herald. From the looks of these three photos, it would appear that the MP’s plans were to make the AT&SF a subsidiary just like the T&P and C&EI.
These photos were recently found in our archives. They are from a photo collection of John German who was a long time head of the Mechanical Department. Photos are marked 1964 Sedalia Shops.

Given the way the merger picture turned out, an “alternative” outcome with ATSF in Jenks blue looks pretty good. The paint arrangement would have been a little more sedate that the Kodachrome SFSP scheme.
