This week’s Photo-of-the-Week features a group posing with MP 2153, HERBIE and a caboose. Location unknown.

HERBIE, or HERB-1, was the boxcar converted to a safety car. HERBIE stood for “Help Every Railroader Become Injury Exempt.”

Pat Meriwether says this is McGehee, Arkansas.

More from Lee Roach. “Looks like McGehee, AR. Rip track shed. AD&N box cars and Herbie all fit. Loco and Herbie are in front of depot.”

That is the rip track at McGehee and the other key point is the back tracks seen beyond the repair track. These were the long receiving tracks 15,16,17 for the “North L” the Wynne sub. Also having spent two years as trainmaster with this territory with GTG (George Graham).
