I am trying to find out how to find out how to determine year built and original numbers for steel caboose that was donated to our museum so that I can restore exterior to as original as possible. Also appropriate decals.
December 27, 2017 at 7:03 pm #8575peggyrothschildParticipantCan you post some photos? We could then help.

the fish belly underframes from old 36′ double sheathed Boxcars and built these in the railroad shops. The other version was riveted. Assume you want the caboose to look in the last paint scheme before it was retired. The Missouri Pacific Historical Society president just restored a wide vision caboose and had to have the Eagle and buzzsaw on the side made by a shop in Kansas City. He can get you in contact with them. The number before retirement would have been in the 13000 or 12000 series and was generally placed below the Eagle decal on the sides, above the end doors and stenciled in the interior.December 27, 2017 at 11:18 pm #8580booker.crumpton68ParticipantThank you for your help. I am vert interested in acquiring appropriate decals and any information I can get on this particular caboose. You have helped tremendously .

What museum is this car affiliated with? I am experienced with caboose restoration and would be glad to assist with this cab. But, I would like to know the parties that I am dealing with.
Check out my cab under the the caboose forum. The topic name is MP 13569.
