Cannon and Co has released a T&P / MP 50’6” Interior Length box car built by ACF in 1971 with the unique Precision Design Embossed Sides with combo doors and a 20-Inch Freight Saver Underframe. Original numbers were TP 365225-365474. Kit number is 4041. Cars in this series were used in newsprint service.

Dave is working on the MP order for these cars that were numbered 365475-365749 and had double doors instead of the combo doors.

Wow, that’s great. I was just thinking about these the other day when I ran across some photos somewhere.

You don’t happen to know what truck that is, with the three outside springs? I know of a Kadee 70-ton one with friction bearings, but I need one like this for a project I’m working on. Have to see if it works, first.

    Ron,

The prototype used Barber S-2-B on the 365225-365474 and used Barber S-2-C on the 365475-365749 series.

I plan to use the Athearn Genesis 70-ton truck – they have both standard tread and the narrow tread – .088″. Part I’m using is ATHG4597. I’ve had good luck finding them on eBay. On the back it says it’s an ACF design, but it looks just like the trucks on the prototype.

Another source would be Exactrail 70-ton Barber S-2 truck which would be the exact type used on the prototype. However these are sold out. Item ET-103 or ET-111 for code .088″. I will use the Exactrail 70-ton Barber if I can find them.

I’m using Moloco’s new trucks under my car. I bought one of these at the STL RPM meet.

I know that Moloco is releasing these…but I wanted a combo door car at present.
