There is an interesting 1915 photo of the Morris & Co. and Swift &Co. plants in Armourdale which shows a string of freight cars in the foreground. Just to the right of the tank car is Missouri Pacific 68116, a outside braced wooden hopper. I don’t recall seeing this design before, but my knowledge of early MP freight cars is limited.

I saw this come across the web the other day and did some digging. They are actually listed in the Fall 2009 Eagle Gondola issue. It says they were built in 1916-1917 by ACF in 3 groups totaling 2500 cars.It has 2 more pics of these cars
