    Hello All,

Looking for some help. We recently acquired a Atlas “O” Scale Missouri Pacific Wood Express Reefer that has the number #3424. Here is a link to a picture:

    https://www.walthers.com/atlas-o-master-r-53-6-quot-wood-express-reefer-3-rail-missouri-pacific-pullman-green-black-gold

I would assume 3424 is the Missouri Pacific number and is not in reference to it being a REA car that is also painted on it. From what I understand it was common for baggage/express cars to have REA stamped on them even though they were not officially owned by REA.

The model is stamped as being built in 1930, but I looked in a passenger equipment roster from 1937 and 1939 and do not see it listed. The closest reference I can find is in a 1946 roster that lists refrigerator express cars #3201-3225 and then #3275 to 3410.

Does this mean I have a model of a car that did not “exist” or is there a numbering change that occurred I do not know about? Any help on this is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

Others may add to this thread but the car number is accurate. The MP owned or leased a small fleet of these passenger reefers but I seem to recall they were off the roster in the mid-1930’s.
