In 2023 the MPHS embarked on a project to replace our existing website with a new, more modern, and easier to maintain site. Our old site was based on technology which was rapidly reaching its end of life with no upgrade path. So we opted to move the site to newer technology that will be supported for many years to com.
WordPress powers over 42% of websites online today. For websites running a CMS, that share is over 65%. Our old site was built on Joomla which powers just 1.6% of websites (2.5% of those running a CMS). 1 WordPress is more popular than all other CMSs combined. Thus we are confident it will be around for many years.
Unfortunately, our old system does not provide a means for exporting/migrating data. This means that everything from the old site must be loaded into the new site manually. This will, of course, take some time and is very tedious work, especially if we are to preserve the chronology and ownership of posts.
We have chosen to launch the new site now to start reaping the benefits of our labor over these past months. Please be patient as it will take a few more months to bring all content from the old site to the new site.
