To add to the list of things I can’t believe somebody actually wants money for:

It’s a freight conductor’s badge. They’d fasten to a regular cap. There was also one for a brakeman. Same style was made for the Iron Mountain (Stamped St.L.I.M.&S.).

Charlie I take it you mean a cloth cap in the classic striped engineer style, though you used to could get them in plain dark blue. Haven’t seen a solid color one in decades.

I’ve seen them on Kromers as well. The eBay one has the plating coming off so wouldn’t be easy to restore. These are actually somewhat common and both the Iron Mountain and Missouri Pacific show up on eBay every few months. I’ve only seen conductor and brakeman versions. This one was pretty beat up and I was able to polish out the pits and add black paint back into the lettering. [attachment=0:1he5kgil]7A51D8D6-0EDE-4FF7-8F6F-4EAFF0BC512D.jpeg[/attachment:1he5kgil]
