Some recently donated photos to the MPHS Collection.
Anyone have any history on the Baby Eagle, or its whereabouts if is still around. It looks like it was repainted in UP colors – this is not the UP Mini Train that tours now, which was built in Omaha and has different equipment.
The back of the B&W photo reads:
SPECIAL EVENTS – BABY EAGLE
The second (and smaller of the two) Baby Eagle units as it appeared in a parade in St. Louis. William L. Schuster, driver is seated. Unidentified man standing in “cab”.
Date 1960
Units turned over to Sedalia, MO
see Sept-Oct 1963 MoPac Mag.
The mP Eagle shots are taken in front of the Soldiers Memorial. The Mopac’s General Officers are in the background. I thought someone said this train set was stored in Palestine, Texas.
Someone commented on the Facebook page that it was donated to the town of Sedalia, but is now stored in NLR at Jenks Shops and is painted yellow.
This is a different mini train than the one UP tours with and I believe based in Cheyenne.
