I assume this fire extinguisher hung in a caboose but only speculation. The depots were equipped with the large brass type but weren’t marked. You can see Mopac Ry on the top so I initially assumed it was made prior to 1917. There were two patent numbers on it so I google both. The first showed the patent dated 1922 and the second 1944 so the maker never changed out the die to the more correct Mopac RR. I’ve found this to be true also with the Morton metal step boxes; all show Mopac Ry stamped in them never changing to Mapac RR. So you can’t always date an item by its markings.
