Just wondering where we are with the NMOT and MPHS trailer being moved near the caboose? Is there a timetable for getting it in place before Fall?

Still waiting for approval from St. Louis County. Molly is working on it. We can’t put anything on site without their permission.

We will probably have to deal with permits, transferiing of title, etc…

I would like to put down a contract pad, but at least we need to put down a heavy gravel base underneath it.

We will need to hire a moving company to move it, I need to get bids.

We will need to hire a licensed electrical contractor to do electrical work

Once moved, there will be some tear out, cleaning and remodeling work to do.

I would hope we could get it moved by fall, because that is when they are going to start scrapping busses and the other leftover trailers.

Once it gets moved, there will be lots of work to do

If you have any local contacts with mobile home movers, or licensed electricians, that could be useful.

Once it is moved and electric is installed, I’m hoping we can do a membership push for volunteers to help tear out carpet, and fixtures, etc. Tear out the kitchen cabinets and plumbing fixtures (no water available anyway). We may want to consider reinforcing the floor due to the weight of the shelving. I’m thinking putting most of the collection in the two bedrooms, and opening up the living/dining area into work space with tables, scanners, etc…

Here are some photos if you have not seen it (if we even get permission to have it).

              BAD NEWS – see below

              Hi Pete and David,

I’m so sorry for the delay on this, but I’m afraid I received some bad news today. Unfortunately, management did not approve moving the mobile office/storage trailer to the Museum of Transportation for use by the Missouri Pacific Historical Society. Please accept my deepest apologies.

              Thanks and best,

              Molly

Apparently it was a good thing we did not get this – when they went to scrap it they found asbestos insulation & they now have to do an abatement before scrapping it.

That would be the last thing we need. Asbestos abatement on a “free” trailer situated on county government property. Fun times.
