Pat C. used to tell me back in the day when something of interest happened, there would be a line of 5-6 folks, all taking the same picture.
(Train Squirrels traveled in packs back then.)
So you would see the same photo in several collections, looking like duplicates, but just the same subject at the same time.Thomas
DeSoto, TXanonymousMemberAfter a few tries, I’ve been unable to post the files to the Bulletin Board. Please email me if you’d like me to send the files, free of charge. My bulletin board username is a good email address.
I have three versions I’ve made: curved roof, peaked roof, and peaked roof with the door open. The files were done in TinkerCAD, and you may do what you like to improve them. I did not print the grab irons as I tend to make them out of brass.
Thank you to everyone that helped me along the way. I could not have done it without you.
Jeff
anonymousMemberDavid,
Will do, I have one more correction to make, I should have it done by tomorrow.
anonymousMemberthere are also “MoPac Through Passenger Service” and “Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment”, as well as some MoPac pix in “Trackside around Pueblo 1955-1970 (Trk #80)”. all these titles are still in print.
anonymousMemberIt’s a pretty standard industrial cage protected light fixture, not railroad specific.
anonymousMemberPassenger service ceased on the New Iberia and Northern 40 miles to the east in 1935. So the Crowley branch could have been at about the same time. This was the period when improved roads began to penetrate this region.
anonymousMemberHere’s the third picture I meant to post!
anonymousMemberBoy, time flies! I’ve been working on this doghouse in my spare time for a while. I’m on my third printing and I think I’m getting close. The one I’ve come up with has a curved roof versus a peaked roof. I’ll make a peaked roof version next after I get the body details right on the curved version.
Here’s pictures of my current work. For those who want to respond, please be critical and let me know what you think. The hardest part for me has been getting the detail to show up when I print, like rivets.
It’s been fun learning how to use software like TinkerCAD and ChituBox.
If this turns out successful, I hope to be able to share the .stl file on here.

anonymousMemberPat,
You may wish to contact Ed Flaugher. He has done several MoPac paint schemes along with Frisco, MKT and others dispalyed at several shows I have attended, OKC, Jacksonville(AR) and Plano. All his work looked very good.Ed Flaugher 1-218-753-6087

anonymousMemberPat, I ran across this guy on Facebook, it sounds like he might be able to help. I have not used him myself. He is on Instagram and Facebook but I don’t think he has a website. His list of services includes painting. I didn’t see decal work in his list, you can always ask.
Touch of the Brush Model Weathering.
Everyone else I’ve seen only paints brass.
anonymousMemberThanks Charlie! Those really help out. I’m noticing there’s quite the variation in doghouses. Once I get the exterior knocked out, adding an interior would be a nice touch.
Mike, thank you, I’ll check it out this evening. The screenshot looks really good.
I’ll print my first attempt Monday. I’m a 100% sure I’ll have to make adjustments after that.
anonymousMemberLooking at the last photo, 1405 appears to have a different size doghouse. A skinner & taller.

anonymousMemberSo 2021 is over.
A fun convention.
The Burlington folks were nice, informative and merged well with us MP folks.
Some odd things, like a model contest, but the convention went smoothly from an attendee view.
David and Rene did a top notch job,
Thank you again.See you folks next year!
