Bud MossParticipant
This is wonderful! Been waiting a long time for this model.I’d like to book two of them. Jerry Michels
Bud MossParticipantIt is hard to tell how thick this is, but I think it could be cleaned up and be presentable if it isn’t too thin. Jerry
Bud MossParticipantThree hundred pre-orders is wonderful! Seems like the M-I was an excellent choice for the MPHS! Jerry
Bud MossParticipantCliff, do you know if this train possibly stopped at Washington? When I saw this photo I thought it might be the George Washington special, but was not sure. One time, and I do not recall the year, this special did stop in Washington and my brother and I helped my Dad, the Chamber of Commerce Executive VP, distribute a flyer about the city of Washington. I distinctly remember a fellow dressed up as George Washington. Jerry Michels
Bud MossParticipantIt was Frank’s article. His Milepost 50,000 series should be reprinted in the Eagle. A great personal history. Jerry
Bud MossParticipantMy first thought was Fredonia, KS. Tony would have been in this area, but I am sure there are others more familiar with the Kansas branch lines. Jerry
Bud MossParticipantThat is right. Supposedly there was a proposal to streamline some of the pacifics, but it never happened.
Bud MossParticipantMost likely the reason why the P didn’t go in for medallions and such on steam or streamlining was the fact that it was in receivership until 1956, and had financial complications through the 1970s.
Bud MossParticipantLooks like a successful project. Hopefully by April 15th this number will be solidly above 300. Jerry
Bud MossParticipantGene, have you looked at the caboose boo? Jerry
Bud MossParticipantWould sure be nice if they did a MP version. I wonder if they could be convinced? The MPHS has a liaison with companies, perhaps he can make an inquiry. Jerry
Bud MossParticipantI sent the seller a message letting him know this was not an NOT&M or MoPac caboose, but seems he isn’t listening (reading) or doesn’t care. The offering is that same now as it was a few days ago.
Jerry
Bud MossParticipantIf you bought decals Joe Collias had through the MPHS, then I suspect they are California Locomotive Works decals. The best ever made for Missouri Pacific, but sadly long out of business. Jerry
Bud MossParticipantLooks like the wrong caboose was put in the box or vice-versa. Jerry
Bud MossParticipantI have seen Shapeways products and they are very, very nice. Are you thinking about a personal or MPHS project? We’d need dimensions of course.
Joe Collias had brass versions of these that Shapeways could probably use as a master. I have on lying around that could be used. Jerry Michels -
