John Fike passed away last week. John was a professor at A&M College Station, Texas and longtime member and supporter of the MPHS. John and his wife Linda normally attended the annual meets and gave a presentation on the Muskogee Road at the Houston meeting several years ago.
I did find a couple of items on the web to provide some background on John.
John was the guest speaker at the Three Rivers Museum May 17, 2003 his topic was ‘130 Years of Railroads at Three Rivers and the History of the Midland Valley – KO&G” and this on the web on an article he wrote for the Oklahoma Historical Society:
John L. Fike, “The MO&G-KO&G to 1926,” in Donovan L. Hofsommer, ed., Railroads in Oklahoma (Oklahoma City: Oklahoma Historical Society, 1977).
I’ve looked but I can’t find any information on funeral arrangements; when I do I’ll post an update.
