I just thought I would open up the G Scale forum with a photo of the extent of my MoPac G Scale collection. Both made by USA Trains. For some reason not much MoPac is available in G.
July 15, 2015 at 2:26 am #6778Years ago I was in the now defunct model train shop in the discount mall at Warrenton, Missouri and thought I saw an Alco FA and PA in Eagle colors in G scale. Thought they were made by USA trains or Aristo Craft. They weren’t badly done either. Anyone else remember these?
July 15, 2015 at 5:14 pm #6782Charlie – there are a few diesels available. I’ve seen PA and SD-40, usually more expensive than I like to spend. I’ve also seen passenger cars occasionally, but who has room for a set of those.
I would like to see an MP caboose some day, and I have never seen one. Maybe we could do a special run in the future. Also a better ART Reefer would be nicer than the white one I have.DH

A caboose would be a nifty desk or shelf display even for those of us who don’t do large scale . . . .

The MoPac FA-B set was a First generation REA-Aristocraft G-scale era. They are very rare, Aristocraft, made improvements to the power trucks in later model generations, but a complete retrofit would be needed to update the power trucks to the better version.
I would love to find a set and caboose to go with them.
Danny Maxwell,
modeling Missouri RRs in the southwest, HO & G scaleJune 10, 2023 at 11:48 am #10528I have been into G scale since 1990. I have several Mopac locos including 2 PAs A units and 2 B units plus a Mopac Passenger car. Also have a GP 35 Mopac. All Item where made by USA trains. I made my own Mopac caboose not accurate type but lettered for Mopac. Had a fellow who custom made decals so those are correct. later RJD
September 25, 2025 at 6:24 am #11424Looks like not a lot of folks interested in the G Scale. I have expanded my outdoor layout to now be a table top RR. I’m now able to run live steam on it. Like to hear of anybody else thats into G scale. Later RJD
April 22, 2026 at 7:09 am #12365New to the forum, and starting a small shelf G-scale switching layout. Essentially just a couple of spurs, but modeling the interchange with steamboats at the wharf in Hermann, Missouri. Looking forward to building a small packet steamboat in 1/25 scale!
My question: I purchased a Bachmann Spectrum 4-4-0 with intent to letter it MoPac. I’m having difficulty finding reference photos or information on 1875-1885 era locomotives, though. Any assistance regarding numbering, lettering, and colors for the steam engine would be greatly appreciated! -
