The GP7 in Jenks blue looks freshly painted and still has its original 4-digit road number. I always thought that Jenks blue began being applied around the same time as the 1962 renumbering.
alexortiz25ParticipantI just saw one of the old Quality Craft kits for this car at a hobby shop in San Diego for less than $30.00. Almost picked it up, however isn’t appropriate for my 1929 era.

Nice kit bashing. I don’t recall seeing this locomotive on your layout. 8^)No that locomotive would not be prototypical for 1929.
Alas the GP15-1 now spends its days in a display case along with a MP GP35, U30C 3319 w/o cab, a U23B with EMD cab and a few other assorted diesels from my teenage years. All are the older Athearn motors and drives, none are DCC. Probably will never turn a wheel again. Believe the GP15-1 was once setup for Dynatrol system.
alexortiz25ParticipantAmazing what is available to the modeler today. Worlds apart compared to my kitbash of a GP15-1 from an Athearn GP35 that I did back in 1976.[attachment=0:1dxq0f0q]image.jpg[/attachment:1dxq0f0q]
alexortiz25ParticipantI believe the bells on the GP-7, 9 and 18’s were behind the steps on the front pilot. Can’t recall if the engineer or fireman side.
alexortiz25ParticipantCharlie,
In comparing the photo to one of my completed Westerfield kits there are several differences besides the ends. The number of the bracing members on the sheathing as well as the shape of the side sill. Lower right corner appears to have a grab iron between the stirrup step and bottom of the ladder.
I would be interested in a model of this car as it would be appropriate for my 1929 era. Any builders photos of this car. Guessing originally had vertical stem-winder and K-brakes?
alexortiz25ParticipantI wore my I-GN hat this past weekend at Galesburg Railroad Days. Unfortunately no one seemed to take notice, or asked “What’s the I-GN”?
