anonymousMemberThere’s a subforum where you can tell your dad’s stories about Mr. Jenks.
anonymousMemberMFA originated as a farmer’s co-op. There actually two divisions, if you will, nowadays, at least locally: the co-op and the oil company. Separate but connected.

Seems a bit small for my big head.

DeSoto, TXanonymousMemberThat’s a serious kink in the track between the cradle and the vessel. No derailment problems there?
anonymousMemberNot MP but possibly of interest:
anonymousMemberGentlemen, your responses to my initial request for information have far exceeded my expectations. It will take some time to digest all the information you have sent me. I am most impressed by your healthy and active Missouri Pacific Historical Society and I really want to thank you for your helpful responses.

anonymousMemberGreat.
You are one of the lucky 6.
(Only 6 made per eBay?)anonymousMemberOnly 6 made?
anonymousMemberI bought some Walthers 4 door cars lettered for Milwaukee Road and removed the lettering thinking I could save the paint. I was able to keep the aluminum paint on the doors but I had to repaint the rest of the body. I ended up using MP initials on these though TP might have worked. One of the number jumbles on the Oddballs set used KO&G.
Here are the cars after repainting and applying the Oddballs decals:
anonymousMemberThere was a guy at a club around here who would bring his 12 year old kid that actually had a train much like you describe. The engine was a Proto USRA 0-8-0, really nice for a kid that age. It pulled a passenger train composed of random Athearn heavyweight and streamlined cars, with some Bachmann 1860 open platform wood cars mixed in, some in circus colors, and had some cheap wide cupola caboose on the end. All going around the club at 80 or 90 MPH.
I changed my thinking though when I realized the youngster was seriously “challenged.” Nevertheless, is the club the right place for therapy like that? Tough question.
anonymousMemberWe definitely are. I slipped and said “society” when I should have said “committee.”
Hope they are more careful with the “nuclear football.” 😮 😮 😆
anonymousMemberAlso, when I worked for the historic district, we got lots of paint color proposals that we found incorrect. The applicant often said they chose their incorrect colors because they were “cute” or something along those lines. One lady wanted to put 40-some-odd gas lanterns on the outside of her house because she’d seen them in House Beautiful and thought they were “cute.” But didn’t know where to stop. Two or three were correct in that case.
There’s so many stories from my time spent there, but they are for another place.
anonymousMemberNo no, No, I meant the “local” “historical committee”. Who’d rather do what they like instead of what is correct and the result of much work by the MPHS. I’m sorry my comments were read otherwise.
