Joerg I’ve been along the old White River Division dozens of times and the scenery in your pictures could represent it. Pat Flory
Joerg, the high nose Jenks Blue Geep in the lead ……. What manufacturer is it? Did it come painted like that? Or is it a custom paint/decal job? Pat Flory
What is the red metal building next to the caboose? Pat Flory
Charlie, I don’t know much about that west end of the MP headed toward Pueblo. That “is” the old main line, isn’t it? It looks like it’s totally gone now, if so I did not know that. Whst happened, did the UP soak up of everyone render it redundant? Please tell. Pat Flory

The power of the internet with stuff like this is amazing. On a music forum years ago I was talking about my friend’s dad, long since deceased, who was a great amateur player, he worked doing oil rig contract services of some kind. In the early 60s when I was in high school I’d go over to his house and he’d show me things and let me play music with him. On the forum I went into great detail about the country music he played and the Gibson guitar he had. In a day or two some one I had no idea who responded, ” yeah, I saw that guy in 1964 in North Louisiana out at a wellhead, my dad used to take me out to the sites and this guy was in the shack playing guitar”. It would also be interesting to have it repainted in it’s original as delivered scheme of Trailsways Bus Red and Cream.

I don’t have my spring issue yet. No hurry, just don’t want to miss it. Pat Flory
Jim,
I can’t give a definitive answer but oil tanks always had a “dip” stick for the checking the oil level. The only one I’ve had any experience with is the MK&T engine at the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis. It was marked with gallons. There would also be a vent pipe to relieve any pressure build up in the tank as the oil had to be heated to get it to flow. I believe the light was for safety reasons. Walking on the tank top at night with spilled oil on it could be an adventure.

Love this impressive layout since years.
Do you have a current track plan to see the changes ?
Is a “one piece resin body” basically a brick with cast on exterior detail ? What do you do to make the Soo Line car into to an NOT&M car? Were they part of an order with the NOT&M cars?
Charlie I ordered via the web site store and sent my check to Jerry Michales address like the invoice said. about 7-10 days ago.
So far I haven’t received my order as yet. Ordered 1 ea. IGN and SAUVG.Now up here in Oregon when I where the IGN hat to a Great Northern function, I will just tell them the GN also ran in Texas
as a sub known as the IGN.Now this is sure to piss them off to know end. Stuck up people out here.

Somewhat surprised at a railroad gathering. I wore mine to the Mid-Continent Railroad museum yesterday in North Freedom, Wisconsin. No one asked there either. Am thinking we’ll have to be in Texas before anyone recognizes the I-GN, SAU&G or GCL caps. One guy at the museum (the engineer on the train) was impressed I’d worked for the Mopac.
Back to the caps, they are selling pretty well. Not flying off the shelves but one or two every few days.

In the early fifties, (1951-1955), I saw a car similar to this on the steam powered 119/120 between Memphis and Little Rock. I have heard it described as a Cafe Lounge car. After 60 years my memory plays tricks on me and I can’t swear the car I saw was painted in Eagle colors. I distinctly remember the observation platform as I wanted desperately to ride back there. I never had the money to buy a ticket.
All the freight cars I have seen, the eagle is pointing to the left.
Only on the Loks is the eagle pointing to the right on one side.
I count this as a very good job.If you put the wheels on, you can come run in my train. https://youtu.be/PWhk9paVr8o
Careful, I started with two MP hoppers. Look where I ended!
