I grew up in Clarksville.
Up until I left, the Spadra creek bridge was the same wood trestle.
For me it was always the same bridge. So replacement would have been mid 50’s or earlier
Some time after I left in 1972, the rail from College street to end of track was replaced with a road.
The road bridge for Cherry street was put in in the 60’s. (Just downstream of the RR bridge)
My house was across the street from the Station.
Never took a single picture of a train. Stupid teenager!
My earliest memory is of my Dad running out to mail a letter by handing it to the RPO car agent.December 31, 2019 at 4:01 pm in reply to: Coming in a few weeks HO Mopac 1150 LCL caboose kits #9577elsaanderson820Participantthose went by fast.
Is there a waiting list?May 21, 2019 at 4:20 am in reply to: New Missouri Pacific Historical Society SBW caboose from Bluford Shops #9388elsaanderson820ParticipantMine came today.
Very nice.elsaanderson820ParticipantCharlie.
The Bowser Loks have Loksound decoders. All you need is a friend with a Lokprogrammer, and the sound can change from Alco 244 to EMD 567. Takes about 30 minutes to do the reload.
Se better to go ahead and order the sound version, rather than worry about adding speakers and decoders later. And I have the equipment, so anyone in the DFW area can stop by and I will swap sounds for them.
elsaanderson820ParticipantWhen you folks get the details correct, would you share the 3D Cad files?
I would like to try these on my 3D printer too.
Great job so far!elsaanderson820ParticipantI have almost all the parts on your list. However, there are several items you mentioned later, like plastruct parts you used for filler, and the filters, etc. Do you have a more comprehensive list?
Having trouble finding the 36″ fans.
Also, I have several extras of the spark arrestors (SA 124) and pilot steps (SY 2208).elsaanderson820ParticipantThank you Charlie.
I saw your models in Austin and they look fantastic.
I have a brace of Loks coming to do this conversion.
I have been wanting to do this for years. Thank you for showing the way.elsaanderson820ParticipantNot really a museum, but if you pass through Dallas and stop at the Frisco Museum, stop by the Texas Northern model RR club in Colin Creek Mall, Plano TX. (ok, for TEXAS, this is close!)
Operation night is Tuesday, if you are ahead of time. We Start at 6:00PM.
Wednesday is work night, and there are usually folks there Thursday Night (but I will be on the road to Austin myself Thursday).
texasnorthern.orgelsaanderson820ParticipantLook up the history of Spadra Arkansas. High quality coal seam, but 1-2 inches deep. Not sure when those coal mines closed, but I think early 1900’s.
I heard several stories about Spadra growing up close by in Clarksville.elsaanderson820ParticipantDoes anyone have a web site or e-mail for Chuck’s Depot in Marion IL?
There were a lot of things I left behind in the store. (My Wife was along on the trip!)
elsaanderson820ParticipantYou likely bought the CD from me at a meet.
These are for sale from Pat Coughlin, in Ovilla Texas. He was selling CDs last weekend at the show in Plano, TX.He used to tell stories about him and his friends standing in a line, all taking the same photo.
What is unique about Pats photos is, he did not just get Loco photos, he went after photos of rolling stock, especially MOW cars. Lots of unique images.
Thomas
DeSoto, TXelsaanderson820ParticipantBill,
I have put together about 150+ of these kits. Run good and look great.I use
Joe’s Model Trains Decal and Detail Remover
to lift off the numbers without damaging the paint.
I also found a way to swap individual hatch covers with other kits. You can see some of these in my videos. Let me know if you want the technique. (To use, you need red [MKT] green [USLX] or yellow {Cargil, MLW] 4427 kits)
You can see these at https://youtu.be/ONpE5YdEGpM
(Not all are 4427, but most are)elsaanderson820ParticipantOh goody? less than 4 hours drive time!
Looking forward to helping!February 24, 2017 at 11:24 pm in reply to: Setting up a daily digest to send to your email address #8238elsaanderson820ParticipantNeat, Thanks.
elsaanderson820ParticipantThis is an absolutely fabulous idea.
I will be ordering several sets. How about a MOW restencil set? With the X and those funky stencil numbers?
