I can send a note to Sam to see if Kadee is interested in producing the model if you want?

    Charlie,

Do you mean offer the car as a MPHS exclusive decorated Kadee car or offer the undercoated kit with the decal? This is a sharp looking paint scheme that lasted in to the 80s. These cars retained their as-built paint scheme and only received renumbering for the most part. I have several photos from 1979 period that show them still with the roof walkways.

Several of the photos shows that some were assigned to paper service out of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

    Charlie,

The cars were built by Pullman-Standard and a 50′ Kadee car probably would be a good starting point. My suggestion would be to contact Sam at Kadee as he can provide the parts needed to build the model. He did this for me for a couple of T&P box cars projects. He’s great to work with.

If there was a like button I would have mashed it down. Great photos of your model, Brian. Thank you again for sharing how you built the models in your presentation.

    Joe,

Nice picture of MI 6031. I have a clear photo of MP 700215 and you can see the same type of shop logo on it for Palestine. Did all the shops have the logo they sprayed on the cars?

There was a consolidated list compiled on STMFC or the MFCL yahoo groups some time ago on the reweigh locations for a large number of railroads. I doubt it’s all inclusive, but it’s a good start. I copied the ones listed for the Mopac. Hopefully they copied okay. I like the idea of a decal for reweighs and also with month/yr digits and will purchase several of the decals.

    Pat,

I do not own a Walthers GP15-1 so I’m unable to comment on running ability.

Yes, they would have run to New Iberia. A former Missouri Pacific engineer, Robert Currie, discussed the salt mine operations on his website plus on the Facebook Missouri Pacific page shared several photos. His is a great guy to discuss and answer questions. He said when the GP15-1s arrived they would use three of them and they were the premiere power used for New Iberia for the salt mine.

Attached are some of Bob Currie’s photos from New Iberia with GP15-1s.

I started work on the caboose end platforms, but I think I’m going paint the pieces individually first and then assemble them as several of the grab irons and other parts were painted white and I think this will ease construction. I then moved on to the cupola. I cleaned up the flash on the roof piece and started to clean up the cupola. I’ve had to do some sanding to get the roof to fit to the cupola. I used my “Bug” etch bending tool from The Small Shop to bend the awning.

    Pat,

They were sublettered for the KOG and then sublettered TP and then they were full MP with no sublettering.

Isn’t one of those cars preserved in McGhee Ar.?

I worked some more on the caboose. The underside is complete and I’ll start on the ends and body next. Gary has said he’s getting the side window awnings and side window screens frets completed and will send them out to those who he shipped to already and will include them in any kits he still has to ship or anyone purchases.

It does not have the T&P buzzsaw.

Do you think of the photos you supplied to Hubert one may have had the T&P buzz saw?

Ah yes, the phase 1 GP15-1 project that like all of other projects that I have that are still not complete. Thomas, I look forward to drooling over your GP15-1s this weekend.

I provided the photos for Hubert for the TP FMC 4626. I have five Exactrail 4427s that I want to convert to the FMC 4526. Project has stalled due to moves, but I wanted to ensure I had accurate decals for the project. Unfortunately I heard from Hubert and he has a death in the family and won’t be attend the Collinsville meet. A side note he asked about doing a decal for the Mopac KO&G International caboose (Wright Trak model).

I have a good quality photo of the FMC 4526 from 1970 in Topeka, Ks, and I don’t recall that it had the large T&P buzzsaw decal. I’m brining my computer so I can to share with anyone at the Collinsville meet this weekend.

Thanks. I used what I had on hand. The mounting straps are too wide and thick as I modeled them, but look okay in my opinion. Since they are on the bottom of the caboose I think it will give a good representation of the prototype especially with a little weathering.

    Charlie,
Current plan is to use thin CA to glue everything together to include the stainless steel parts. Most of the stainless steel parts have pins to assist with a strong bond when attached to the cast parts. Only the caboose steps in the the step box will be a stainless steel to a stainless steel connection, but I believe the CA will work and it’s what I have on hand. Looking for any suggestions anyone has. Thanks.

How are you planning on attaching the stainless steel parts together?
