Looks great!
Alas! I bear the burden of the King of Scales and can’t use one.monikabidwill9523ParticipantFWIW, Lionel has cataloged a Light USRA Mike 5307 to go with its Sunshine Special (in the 2018 Vol II) 8 Hvywt cars: total price (it is sold as mostly separate sale items) a breath-taking $3000 (give or take a little). The engine is about $1300 or that price. Beautiful set far beyond my means.
monikabidwill9523Participant😳 FWIW, Lionel has cataloged a Sunshine Special in the 2018 Vol II: Light USRA Mike 5307 + 8 Hvywt cars: total price (it is sold as mostly separate sale items) a breath-taking $3000 (give or take a little). Beautiful set far beyond my means.
monikabidwill9523ParticipantThanks for that link!
I didn’t find his name in the MoPac listings (it would have been kinda early), but I did learn something about how to use the resource, and I can see lots of fun stuff to peruse.
monikabidwill9523ParticipantThanks for that heads-up; I will search eBay for the book.
I guess I must be vintage, too: turning 55 today with a 1964 build date
monikabidwill9523ParticipantI see; that would make other scales more complicated.
monikabidwill9523ParticipantSince such kits are pretty easily translated from one scale to another (the laser being computer-controlled), is there any possibility of other scale versions?
monikabidwill9523ParticipantIt sure is, Jerry!
Amateur historian, long-time modeler (of strictly second-rate ability), and all-around enthusiast.
I’ve had model trains and books about trains all my life (Hey! Tootles andThe Red Caboose are about trains, right?).
I used to live in St. Francis Co., MO, which sparked a serious interest in the MoPac.monikabidwill9523ParticipantI just wanted to say that I finally did something I should have done a long time ago and joined the society. The help I have gotten here has been worth more than the dues already.
Thanks again to all!

The only heavyweights that I have seen are the ones now in museums, and they are painted Pullman green outside and in the vestibule area.

Thanks for the reply, Bill.
I would have assumed otherwise.

I would like to see an MP caboose some day, and I have never seen one. Maybe we could do a special run in the future. Also a better ART Reefer would be nicer than the white one I have.

A caboose would be a nifty desk or shelf display even for those of us who don’t do large scale . . . .

Frisco, MoPac, and T&P near Rolla, MOmonikabidwill9523ParticipantDavid Huelsing at the archives came through for me in a big way with copies of the diagrams and stats; BIG thanks to him!
If anyone has anything related, however, I’d still love to see it.
Now, to the workbench!
monikabidwill9523ParticipantI appreciate your looking, Charlie!
monikabidwill9523ParticipantThanks for the welcome, gents!

There are four pages on this class (1801-1819) in Collias’ Mopac Power. For others who might be curious, they were built as hill power for the Tip Top grade in 1901-03 but ended up in various other places where there were grades but not that much need for speed. Atchison and the grade up out of the Missouri River valley is one.
There exists a set of MoPac steam locomotive diagrams somewhere, but I don’t know if it has ever been widely published.

Thank for that. I have MoPac Power, but the info is awful sketchy on dimensions and so forth. The diagrams would be the cat’s pajamas if could find a set.
