What’s disappointing is the decision was made by a City ‘Historical Committee’ knowing that the colors were incorrect. Both Jerry and I sent them (and the mayor) information on what the correct MP colors were and the response back was basically ‘we just like the gray and blue’ better. I suggested they rename the Historical Committee to something else since they were ignoring what was correct but (not surprising) didn’t get a response.
peggyrothschildParticipantFor those that have bought the containers the gray stripe is incorrect at 4’. I’ll have the decals redone and send out a replacement set once we determine the right width. Looks to me the gray band is 3’ 6” and not 4’. Stay tuned

Depending on your era you could ballast them mainline with rock and the industry spurs with a mix of cinder and dirt.peggyrothschildParticipantShot of the cover. Book is going to production August 6 and we are still on for printing September 2nd. BF456BB1-16B2-461B-8926-7C6EC3132B43.jpeg[/attachment:18y2zzzo]

Thanks for the interesting posting. Would be interesting to see how the wood chips were loaded and unloaded. Assume the doors were coopered somewhat like a grain car but I’m only speculating.peggyrothschildParticipantC7FE05C0-04A8-40C9-9DF7-CF2BCD8C66EB.jpeg[/attachment:1b3cmwtn]E40A059D-A0DD-4A58-B16D-291898B52C0B.jpeg[/attachment:1b3cmwtn]
peggyrothschildParticipantI found 16 unbuilt ART reefers in St. Louis which let us put together another batch of unbuilt kits, 3D printed roof, ends and doors plus the decals. No limit this time on the number you can order.

Very impressed with your layout and the work you did on modifying the USRA light mike to a MP version.peggyrothschildParticipant09502DD5-6ACB-4F56-B760-3D105B2BDF0B.jpeg[/attachment:2dmfn41v]D2258BFD-62B6-4355-92D1-C2C2412D2B62.jpeg[/attachment:2dmfn41v]58D2C0A5-325E-4634-A24E-D8D4291D093D.jpeg[/attachment:2dmfn41v]4D474E09-929D-4569-9158-87D680AA9932.jpeg[/attachment:2dmfn41v]61EEEB5D-A813-4F04-B533-AB374CC2472F.jpeg[/attachment:2dmfn41v]

I don’t recall what I used on the T&P modern caboose but as you can see TruColor has lots of red-orange colors to choose from.peggyrothschildParticipantJerry
I talked to Hubert Mask yesterday and they will start working on the new decals shortly. He hasn’t done steam locomotive decals before and was concerned about demand. I told Hubert I was getting at least two requests a month for MP steam decals. I also sent him the 1929 M-I lettering diagram so the new set will include the Missouri-Illinois which has never been done. With the M-I book pending release I can see a demand for M-I decals. The original California Locomotive Works decals for the MP used a light gray to replicate the aluminum used by the MP.

Neat find; obviously a double door car converted to a single door configuration. I agree the end doors were probably welded shut.peggyrothschildParticipantLuke
Many of the 1948 cabooses were still in the freight car brown paint in the mid-1970’s. Tru-Color MKT Freight Car Brown (TCP-188) is a good match. As cabooses were repainted to a ‘caboose red’ it was a red shade that as Thomas stated faded to an orange-red over the years. Look at a google search image on Missouri Pacific cabooses and see the variations. What I never saw was a dark red.
